Con is a mesmerizing place full of actors, vendors, and cosplayers. After going to your first one, we promise you won’t miss your opportunity to dress up for the next one. These things take time, so you better go ahead and start coming up with some cosplay ideas.
You’ve got to buy your costume (or make it if you’re handy with a needle and thread) and get your wig, contacts are a must in some cases if you want to go all out, and you’ll need to either make or buy your accessories. It’s a lot of work.
Before you start this process, it helps to know who you’ll be dressing up as. Here are a few cosplays for you to consider.
1. Goku

If you are familiar with one anime at all then it’s most likely Dragon Ball. It’s a classic that’s been around since the 90s. You can’t go wrong with cosplaying the main character from the series, Goku.
Everybody knows who Goku is so you’ll be sure to gain some attention and it’s not so hard. You can find his costume about anywhere (again he’s popular) and you can probably find his wig too.
Speaking of wigs, Goku’s hair goes through several different changes when he goes Super Saiyan so you can sort of have fun with that if you want to.
2. Naruto

Naruto hasn’t been around quite as long as Dragon Ball but if you dress up as the main character anyone will be able to spot you in a crowd. That isn’t only because you’re wearing bright orange and have bright spiky blonde hair.
Naruto has only been around since 2007 but he has managed to ninja his way into the hearts of many. He’s a fun character who won’t let anything stand in the way of his dream of being the Hokage and makes a ton of great friends along the way.
Like Goku, you can probably find a Naruto costume complete with shoes and a ninja headband with a simple google search. Have fun ninja running all around the con floor.
3. L

L is the mysterious and quirky detective from the anime Death Note. He spends his time hunting the serial killer known to the world as Kira and will go to any means to bring him to justice. Even doing some questionable things himself.
His cosplay is also the easiest one for a beginner to do. He wears baggy jeans and a long-sleeved white t-shirt. He does not have a love for shoes but con regulations will probably cause you to have to slip on at least a pair of sneakers.
He has messy black hair but it shouldn’t be too hard for you to find an L wig online. All you’ve got to worry about is putting on black eyeliner to make it look like you haven’t slept in a month, sitting in strange positions, and filling up on sweets.
4. Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn is a cosplay that many women go for. She’s not that difficult, you can find her costume anywhere, and she’s a fun character to portray.
She wasn’t in the comic books originally. Her first appearance was in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Her character got such a positive response that she appeared in the comics much later.
The great thing about cosplaying Harley is that she has been through a ton of different looks since her debut in 1992. You can dress in her classic harlequin outfit or go with one of her more new aged looks.
As far as accessories go, you can make her token hammer with polyurethane resins.
5. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is a strong amazon warrior from Themyscira. She has been a popular cosplay choice as of late due to the new DC movies. She loves to fight and admittedly doesn’t know much about human culture.
These aspects of her character can be fun to portray if you’re one to bring a little personality to your cosplay. She first appeared in comics in 1942 so as you can imagine there have been several different renditions of the character. Like with Harley, you can sort of take your pick and have fun with it.
6. The Joker

The Joker came into being in the 1940s as one of Batman’s most notorious villains. The biggest aspect of his character is to prove that everyone is one bad day away from being like him while also trying to get Batman to break his no-killing code.
He can be a fun cosplay to do because who doesn’t want to run around as an evil clown-like character? If you wait till Halloween you can most likely find his costume laying around in stores.
If you need it before then, a quick Google search should turn up several different versions of his costume.
7. Princess Leia

If you need a quick, last-minute cosplay idea then Princess Leia has you covered. It’s a simple costume that of course, is pretty iconic considering Star Wars is a Sci-fi phenomenon.
The only thing you may have trouble with is getting your hair to go up into her classic hairdo. You may be able to find a wig online that’s done that work for you.
